New Project!

Well, after quite the day of mini celebrity status, I am back down to earth and working on the new project; Hearts and Flowers.

Everyone at work commenting on the article in the Western Star. You have to remember how small Corner Brook is, and that everyone reads the newspaper daily. Lots of comments about my beautiful Icons of NL and its destiny as a fundraiser.

Hearts and Flowers is a 22 x 38 mat which I adapted from one of my rug hooking books. I like the simpleness of it and am completing it in primarily wool yarns.

  1. I tried hooking with yarn recently and had a tough time. Is there a trick to it?

  2. Not really a trick but you have to make sure that you don't split the wool. Take your time to place the strand on the hook. Wool even has a direction like strips and should use wool only not blends.

  3. Julie,
I love the simple design and the hearts are a favorite of mine. It has to take a lot of patience to hook with wool yarn. I tried it once too, not very easy! Cathy G

  4. Oh Boy, Julie, this is going to be a "BEAUTY"...simple designs make good rugs. I liked the one Kim did with the butterflies, as well.

  5. Anne beat me to it....So beautiful in its simplicity. But the size.........you sure do like the big projects! It is going to be fabulous. I think you should keep this one for your home. And Anne, if you are reading this, thanks for the compliment!

  6. Just passing through and thought I would tell you how much I love your new rug. I did latch hooking many years ago and it was not like this. I believe we call this needle punch could you possibly show a close up of your hook? I enlarged several pics but each time the hook was not really visible. Or if you are up for it you could email it to me at my blog www.cheneybaglady.blogspot.com. Thanks. Karen Enjoyed reading about your beautiful countryside.
