In the Distance

These are the Blow Me Down moutains which are in the distance. They are beginning to be covered in the horrible white stuff that falls this time of year.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and unlike my dear rug pal, Anne, only got my ten minutes in rug hooking or so. Still a few jobs to do outside and we weren't going to pass up a day with warm sunshine and calm winds.

By the way, anyone wonder why they call these mountains, Blow Me Down?

  2. Gorgeous! I don't know why but I hadn't imagined mountains in Newfoundland! I would guess that the winds really howl and blow hard when they get going, eh?

  3. I can picture an early settler traveling along the Newfoundland shoreline in his ship and out of the morning mist he sees the mountains and proclaims, " Blow me Down. Them there are mountains."

After a quick Google search I found out that I wasn't far of in my guess. I will let you explain the real reason, since you will add more personality to it then what I found.

I miss the autumn colours from back east. Here in Victoria some of the trees change colours, but not like back home. I miss seeing the hills look like they are on fire with all the reds, oranges and yellows.

Thanks Julie, for the nice fall picture to make me think of home (Nova Scotia).
