Remembering!

I have a great love of birds and came across this picture of hummingbirds which I think was taken in Florida. We don't have hummingbirds in NL, nor do we have cardinals, another of my favourite aviators. Of course, on the other side, we do have puffins, gannets, grosbeaks and many others.

What makes this picture special is that it is an actual picture taken by P's daughter on her vacation. Aren't they sweet?

Today, is Remembrance Day and as my father was a WWII veteran, I always think that if he didn't make it back from Europe, his children wouldn't have had our lives to be grateful for. Remember all veterans today.

In Flanders field the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

  1. To capture 3 hummingbirds in one photo is quite a feat. Beautiful. Enjoy the day.
